Mini-Humbucker
Mini-Humbucker
These are the cutest pickups in the whole world!
Around the time Gibson acquired Epiphone, they were anxious to stick the magnificent PAF humbucker in everything they could find. But between the Gibson and Epiphone facilities, many guitar bodies were already routed to accept the longer, thinner P-90. Rather than re-route the guitars, the mini-humbucker was developed: a humbucking design like the PAF, but that could be accommodated in the same space as a P-90.
We can offer the mini-humbucker in three different varieties: the "classic" design, (in which the one coil is fitted with adjustable screw-poles and the other is fitted with a single, non-adjustable slug); the "firebird" design (which uses non-adjustable slugs in each coil); and a "sidewinder" design (typically credited to Bill Lawrence, this offers a tone more akin to a single-coil pickup).
